Marina was born in Dominican Republic and raised in Miami but has been calling New Orleans home since 2002. She started her career in banking while in college well over 17 years ago. Currently, she’s Asst. Vice-President/Community Development Officer at Metairie Bank and is responsible for the research, development and implementation of the bank’s plan to better serve the underbanked, through the origination of mortgage loans for low to moderate income consumers and individuals anywhere in the greater New Orleans region. In her capacity she also oversees and ensures the bank’s commitments under the Community Reinvestment Act and Fair Lending regulations.
Marina served as the Business Development Officer for the nation’s largest micro lender LiftFund, formerly Accion Texas Inc., where she worked with the nonprofit’s Louisiana team and community stakeholders to deploy more than $1,000,000 in microloans to Latino entrepreneurs in the Greater New Orleans Area and the Delta states.
Through active community involvement she has built a strong network. In 2015 she founded the HCCL Hispanic Young Professionals of Louisiana (HYPLA) with the goal to give Hispanic young professionals the chance to share insight, exchange ideas and expand their expertise and network alongside some of the premier business leaders in the Greater New Orleans area. Marina is an active member of the Homeownership Committee and Homebuyer’s Education Collaborative of the Greater New Orleans Housing Alliance (GNOHA), Affiliates Committee member of the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of Realtors (NOMAR), member of the FDIC’s Southeast Louisiana Alliance for Economic Inclusion and is a member of the GNO Inc. NextGen Council. She currently serves as Chair to the non-profit El Centro Inc. and is also Chair to the St Catherine of Siena Catholic School Community Partnership Committee.
