Workforce Development Training Program

In January 2008, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation began a two year contract with Jefferson Parish to bilingual provide web-based workforce development training at the HBRTC. The program is dedicated to providing legal residents within the Latin community who are unemployed or underemployed soft skills training (either general or industry specific). Students enrolled in the Workforce Development Training Program are placed into our “job seeker” database. At the completion of each individualized program, graduating participants will be matched to available positions which are obtained from our “positions available” database. The incorporation of an “employee” database and a “jobs available” database, supplied by local business submitting positions available by email, has facilitated the quick matching of job seekers to jobs.

As a secondary option upon gradation, participants may be advised to continued education in the form of vocational training. The on-site Case Worker will advise the participant on the variety of training opportunities available at local institutions such as Louisiana Technical College within which the offices of the HCCL Workforce Development Program are currently located.
